Biography

Hassan earned a bachelor's of science degree and a Masters in Mathematics from the University of Chittagong in Bangladesh. He moved to Hamtramck in 1994 and worked as a manufacturing expert at Faurecia Automotive Seating Inc.

Hassan decided to run for City Council in 2009 after seeing discrimination to immigrant populations by police officers and city officials.[2]

He is running against Carol Banks, Marcelus Brice, Paris Canty, Jonathan Wright, Adam Hollier, Ernest Little, Rose Mary Robinson, Beverly Tran, Mervin White and Robert Zwolak in the Democratic primary on August 7. Incumbent Maureen Stapleton (D) is running in District 6.[3][4]
