Montana has a mixed primary system -- Republicans hold a closed caucus and Democrats have an open primary. Voters wishing to vote in the primary must register by May 6, 2012, which is 30 days before the primary, although late registration is available up through the close of polls on election day.[1] (Information about registering to vote)
