Nancy Bernard currently serves as the District 3 member on the Lake Washington School Board in Washington. She was first elected to the chamber in 1997. Bernard won re-election without opposition on November 5, 2013.

Biography

Bernard earned a B.A. in Health Education from the University of Washington. She later earned a Master's of Public Health in Environmental Health Science from Tulane University. Bernard previously worked as a science educator in private schools as well as a member of the Washington State School Directors' Association Legislative Committee. She is currently a public health advisor with the Washington Department of Health. Bernard and her husband have two children.[1]

What was at stake?

Incumbent Nancy Bernard won her fifth term in the District 3 seat without opposition. Newcomer Mark W. Stuart ran unopposed for the District 4 seat currently held by Doug Eglington, who did not file for re-election after 24 years on the board.[3]

Lake Washington School District is based out of Redmond and serves King County communities including Kirkland and Sammamish. The population of Redmond was 54,144 according to the 2010 U.S. Census.[4]
