Nate Shinagawa is a 2012 Democratic and Working Families Party candidate seeking election to the U.S. House representing the 23rd Congressional District of New York.

Shinagawa is a county legislator.[1]

Shinagawa is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing New York's 23rd District. He is seeking the nomination on the Democratic and Working Families tickets[2] and will face attorneys Leslie Danks Burke and Melissa Dobson in the June 26 Democratic primary. The winner will take on Republican incumbent Tom Reed. The national Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has taken an interest in the race, citing the three challengers as evidence of opposition to the Republican incumbent.[1]

Local Democratic officials and organizations have split their endorsements mainly between Burke and Shinagawa.[3]

All three Democratic challengers support Obamacare and oppose hydrofracking. In regards to the economy, Burke and Shinagawa want to more heavily tax corporations, and Dobson wants to link education and technical training.[1]
