State Board of Education

The State Board of Education is comprised of eleven members. Four members are elected from the four congressional districts in Nevada and seven members are appointed to terms of five years.[7] One member is appointed by the governor, one member is appointed by the Assembly, one member is appointed by the Senate, one member is appointed by the Nevada Association of School Boards, one member is appointed by the Board of Regents, one member is appointed by the Nevada Association of School Superintendents and a Student Representative member is appointed to a one year term by the Nevada Association of Student Councils.[8] The purpose of the board is to set policies and regulations for the state's public school system.[9]
