The Nevada Director of Agriculture is a state executive position in the Nevada state government.

The Director oversees the Department of Agriculture whose stated mission is "to benefit the welfare of all persons residing in the state by encouraging the advancement and protection of Nevada's agriculture and related Industries."[1]

Current officeholder

The current officeholder is Jim Barbee. He was officially appointed to the position on June 8, 2011.

Appointments

Per 561.115 of the Nevada Revised Statutes, the State Board of Agriculture appoints the Director of Agriculture with the consent of the governor. The commissioner serves at the pleasure of the governor. His or her term expires at the end of the governor's term or if the governor vacates office.[2]

Compensation

In 2009, the Nevada Director of Agriculture was paid an estimated $107,465 according to the Council of State Governments.[3]
