The Nevada Public Utilities Commission is a three member board in the Nevada state government.

The mission of the PUC is to "Supervise and regulate the operation and maintenance of utility services in Nevada."[1]

Current officeholder

The current chairman is Alaina Burtenshaw. She was appointed as Chair on February 2, 2011. Commissioners include Rebecca Wagner and David Noble.


Per 703.030 of the Nevada Revised Statutes, the governor appoints the three members of the commission to four year terms. The appointees must have at least two years of experiences in either accounting, business administration, finance, economics, administrative law or professional engineering. Additionally, no more than two commissioner may be from the same political party or the same field of experience.[2]


In 2009, Nevada Public Utilities Commissioners were paid an estimated $112,275 according to the Council of State Governments.[3]
