The New Jersey Public Utilities Board is a five member board in the New Jersey state government responsible for regulation of natural gas, electricity, water, telecommunications and cable television.

The mission statement of the board is as follows:

"To ensure the provision of safe, adequate and proper utility and regulated service at reasonable rates, while enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of New Jersey and performing these public duties with integrity, responsiveness and efficiency."[1]

Current officeholder

The current president is Lee Solomon. He was appointed to the position by Gov. Chris Christie in 2010.

Commissioners include Nicholas Asselta, Joseph L. Fiordaliso, Elizabeth Randall and Jeanne M. Fox.

Appointments

Per Title 48:2–1 of the New Jersey Statutes the members of the board are appointed to six-year terms by the governor with the advice and consent of the Senate. No more than three members may be members of the same political party.[2]
