The New Mexico Lieutenant Governor is an official in the state of New Mexico that ranks just below the Governor of New Mexico. The lieutenant governor serves as the president of the New Mexico Senate, ombudsman for constituent concerns, acting governor when the governor is absent from the state and member of the Executive Cabinet.

Additionally, the lieutenant governor serves on the following boards and commissions:

  • the Border Authority
  • the Community Development Council
  • the Workforce Development Board
  • the Mortgage Finance Authority
  • the Space Commercialization Commission
  • the Military Base Planning Commission
  • the State Board of Finance
