The 20th congressional district of New York will hold an election for the U.S. House of Representatives on November 4, 2014.

New York is one of 12 states to use a strictly closed primary process, in which the selection of a party's candidates in an election is limited to registered party members.[4][5][6]

Heading into the election the incumbent is Paul Tonko (D), who was first elected in 2008.

New York's 20th Congressional District is located in the eastern portion of the state and includes Albany and Schenectady counties and parts of Rensselaer, Montgomery and Saratoga counties.[7]
