A Newaygo County Educational Service Levy Increase measure was on the May 4, 2010 ballot in Newaygo County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 2,081 Approveda
  • NO 854 [1]

This measure sought to renew the .98 mill that is due to expire the end of 2010 and also add .16 mills to the tax. The tax will be in place for a further seven years and the money will be used to help students with disabilities.[2] The tax was originally approved in 2004 and has generated around $1.4 million a year for the program. By having this tax separate from general school funds, school districts do not have to allocate money to this program and can use their money for other purposes.[3]
