A vote on whether to recall Gloria Karmun, Kirsten Timbers, Barb Nickels, Albert McComas and Heather Payenna from their positions on the Nome Board of Education, which administers the Nome School District in Nome, Alaska took place on May 25, 2010.[1]

Payenna and McComas were recalled, while Karmun, Nickels and Timbers retained their seats.[2] Because of the closeness of some of the votes, recounts may be requested.[2]

Heather Payenna:

  • Votes to recall: 479 Approveda
  • Votes to keep: 471

Gloria Karumn:

  • Votes to recall: 447
  • Votes to keep: 495 Defeatedd

Albert McComas:

  • Votes to recall: 491 Approveda
  • Votes to keep: 467

Barb Nickels:

  • Votes to recall: 362
  • Votes to keep: 580 Defeatedd

Kirsten Timbers :

  • Votes to recall: 476
  • Votes to keep: 478 Defeatedd

40% of eligible voters cast a vote.[2]

The recall campaign was organized after the board voted on January 12, 2010 not to renew the contracts of Nome-Beltz Junior/Senior High School Principal Janeen Sullivan and Assistant Principal Doug Boyer.[3]

The election was administered by Unorganized Borough election officials.
