The term nonpartisan is defined as non-alignement or support for a political party.[1]

Elections

Nonpartisan elections are generally held for municipal and county offices. In addition, some school boards elections are nonpartisan and nonpartisan elections are common in the election of judges.[2] On the other hand, partisan elections openly list a candidate's party affiliation on the ballot.[3]
