The North Dakota Parental Rights Initiative may appear on the 2014 ballot in North Dakota as an initiated state statute. The measure would create a legal presumption that each parent is a fit parent and entitled to be awarded equal parental rights by a court unless there is clear evidence to the contrary.[1]

Supporters are required to collect a minimum of 13,452 valid signatures and deliver them to the secretary of state's office 90 days before the election at which the measure is to appear on the ballot or one year from the date the petition is approved for circulation.

The petition was approved for circulation on June 18, 2013. This means that supporters must turn in signatures by March 12, 2014, in order to qualify the measure for the June 2014 ballot or by June 18, 2014, to qualify the measure for the November 2014 ballot.
