A North Emmet Emergency Levy Implementation measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the North Emmet emergency district area, which is in Emmet County.

This measure was approved in all three townships.[1]

This measure sought to implement a district levy which would be set at a rate of $1 per $1,000 of assessed value for a period of six years in order to pay for fire protection services and equipment costs in the district.[2]

Text of measure

The question on the ballot:

SHALL THE NORTH EMMET EMERGENCY SERVICES AUTHORITY LEVY UP TO 1.000 MILL ($1.00 ON EACH $1000.00) OF THE TAXABLE VALUATION ON ALL REAL AND PERSONAL PROPERTY IN THE AUTHORITY’S DISTRICT, WHICH INCLUDES ALL OF THE TOWNSHIPS OF CROSS VILLAGE, FRIENDSHIP AND READMOND, PURSUANT TO SECTION 12, ACT 57 OF THE PUBLIC ACTS OF 1988, FOR SIX (6) YEARS, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 AND 2018, FOR THE PURPOSE OF PROVIDING FIRE PROTECTION AND FIRST RESPONSE RESCUE SERVICE TO PURCHASE EQUIPMENT, AND FOR THE HOUSING OF SUCH EQUIPMENT? THE ESTIMATE OF THE REVENUE THE AUTHORITY WILL COLLECT IF THE MILLAGE IS APPROVED AND LEVIED IN 2013 IS APPROXIMATELY $205,000 FROM LOCAL PROPERTY TAXES AUTHORIZED HEREIN.[3]
