North Little Rock School District is a school district in Arkansas that serves the city of North Little Rock, Arkansas. It is the 9th largest school district in Arkansas, serving 9,113 students in 18 schools with an operating budget of $102.5 million.[1][2]

North Little Rock School District is located in Pulaski County, Arkansas. The county seat of Pulaski County is Little Rock. According to the 2010 US Census, Pulaski County is home to 388,953 residents.[3]

Demographics

Pulaski County outperformed the rest of Arkansas in terms of its poverty rate, median rates of average household income and higher education achievement in 2011. The poverty rate in Pulaski County was 16.7% compared to 18.4% for the entire state. The median household income in Pulaski County was $45,897 compared to $40,149 for the state of Arkansas. The US Census also found that 31.3% of Pulaski County residents aged 25 years and older attained a Bachelor's degree compared to 19.6% in Arkansas.[3]

Superintendent

Kelly Rodgers began serving as the Superintendent of North Little Rock School District in July 2013. Prior to serving in this role, she served as Superintendent of Terrell Independent School District and Center Independent School District as well as a stint as the assistant superintendent of DeKalb Independent School District.[5]

Members of the North Little Rock School District Board of Education are elected to four-year terms. There was no primary election and the general election was held on September 17, 2013.[7] Two seats were up for election in 2013 and two seats will be up for election in 2015.

Teacher salaries

North Little Rock School District employed 720 K-12 teachers during the 2011-12 school year.[9] Teacher salaries are categorized based on higher education achievement, professional development and years of service. A teacher with a Bachelor's degree can earn higher salaries by pursuing graduate courses with raises at credit intervals. The salary schedule also accounts for graduate degrees by providing higher starting salaries and greater potential salaries.
