Qualifications
There are no specific qualifications for this office. General qualifications to hold a statewide, constitutionally authorized office are outlined in Article VX, Section 4 of the state Constitution:

Appointments
The superintendent of industrial compliance and labor is appointed by, and serves as the pleasure of, the Director of the Ohio Department of Commerce.
Vacancies
In the event of a vacancy in the office, the Director of the Department of Commerce will appoint a successor.
Duties
The superintendent administers the activities of the entire division.
Divisions
There are two administrative sections, finance and administration, that manage the day-to-day office functions of the division and support the eight central sections of the office:
- Bedding
- Boilers
- Building Code Compliance
- Elevators
- Industrialized Units
- Labor & Worker Safety
- Plumbing
- Steam Engineers
Compensation
In 2010, the Ohio Director of Insurance was paid an estimated $87,547 according to the Council of State Governments.[1]
