Located in the southern United States, Oklahoma is bordered by Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Missouri, Kansas and New Mexico. The state capital and also largest city is Oklahoma City. Nicknamed "the Sooner state," Oklahoma’s name originates from the Choctaw words "okla" and "humma," meaning "red people." Currently, there are two Republican members of the U.S. Senate, a total of five Republican members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 48 members of the Oklahoma State Senate and 101 members of the Oklahoma House of Representatives. As of September 2013, Oklahoma is one of 24 Republican state government trifectas.
