The Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor is a statewide constitutional office in Oklahoma. The lieutenant governor is the second-highest executive official of the state. The lieutenant governor is the first in line to become the new governor of Oklahoma upon the death, resignation, or removal of the governor. The lieutenant governor also serves as the president of the Oklahoma Senate, and may cast the tie breaking votes in that chamber.

Oklahoma voters cast a separate ballot for governor and lieutenant governor. Candidates for governor and lieutenant governor in Oklahoma must conduct separate campaigns.

The current officeholder is Jari Askins.

Qualifications

The lieutenant governor serves a four-year term of office and can serve consecutive terms without limitation.

• at least 30 years old
• citizen of the United States
• a qualified elector of the state for at least 10 years
