In a 2008 editorial criticizing the Oklahoma Education Association for sponsoring the Oklahoma HOPE Ballot Initiative, the Oklahoman says that in 1992, the OEA "opposed a public vote on State Question 640."
233,832 signatures were filed to qualify it for the ballot, versus a requirement of 175,656.
