Located in the Pacific Northwest region of the United States, the state of Oregon is bordered by Washington, California, Nevada, Idaho and the Pacific Ocean. Nicknamed “the Beaver state,” Oregon was the 33rd state admitted to the Union in 1859. While Salem is the state’s capital, Portland is the state’s most populated city. Currently, there are two Democratic members of the U.S. Senate, a total of five members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 30 members of the Oregon State Senate and 60 members of the Oregon House of Representatives.
