Grassley is running in the 2012 election for Iowa House of Representatives District 50. Grassley defeated fellow incumbent Annette Sweeney in the Republican primary on June 5, 2012. No Democratic candidates filed in the district. The general election takes place on November 6, 2012.[2][3]
