Maher ran for Nassau County Legislator in 2011. She won the Democratic Primary by 60% against a former Supreme Court Justice and came closer to beating the 16 year Republican than any other candidate. She is a Civic Activist and President of the Merrick Avenue Civic Association and a graduate of Hofstra University with a Master's Degree. Patricia comes from a not-for-profit background, having been the Director of Development and Community Education for both Nassau and Suffolk Counties in charge of educating the public about seizure disorders.
