Biography
Calder was raised in Eastport, Maine and attended Shead High School, graduating in 2000. He attended Massachusetts Maritime Academy, graduating with a B.S. in Marine Engineering in 2004.[1]
Career
Calder is a merchant mariner and marine engineer.[1] He is a member of the Marine Engineer’s Beneficial Association (MEBA) and is currently employed as the First Engineer on the world’s only American-flagged cruise ship, the Pride of America operated by Norwegian Cruise Lines.[1]
Elections
2012
Calder was running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Maine's 1st District. Calder was seeking the nomination on the Republican ticket.[2][3] Incumbent Chellie Pingree ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. Calder was defeated by Jonathan Courtney in the Republican primary.[4] The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run was March 15, 2012. The primary elections were held on June 12, 2012.
