Lodge won election in the 2012 election for Idaho State Senate District 11. Redistricting placed Lodge into District 11 with incumbent Melinda Smyser (R), leading to a potential 2012 faceoff between the two. However, Smyser decided not to run for re-election, leaving Lodge in the Republican primary against Maurice Clements.[1] Lodge defeated Clements in the primary and defeated Victoria Brown (D) in the November 6 general election.[2][3]
