Godfrey, the race's only Democrat, faced Republicans Bobby Banks, Emory West Dunahoo, Jr., Dominic Ottaviano, Todd Reed, William Sykes, Kris Yardley. Since no candidate received a majority of the vote on November 8, the top two vote getters--Banks and Dunahoo--proceeded to a run-off election on December 6.[2][3]
