Hollis is running in the 2014 election for the U.S. Senate, representing Louisiana. Hollis is running as a Republican candidate. The general election takes place November 4, 2014.

Hollis announced on December 30, 2013, that he would run for the Senate seat in Louisiana.[1] He indicated that the reasoning behind his run was the lack of support behind fellow Republican candidate Bill Cassidy.[1]

“I want to give them another option,” he said. “I don’t see a whole lot of excitement for any of the candidates in this race. If I did, I certainly wouldn’t get in this mix.”[1]

On October 22, 2011, Hollis won election to District 61 of the Louisiana House of Representatives. He defeated Christopher Trahan (R) in the primary election on October 22, 2011. Because Louisiana uses a blanket primary system, a candidate can be declared the overall winner of the seat by garnering 50 percent +1 of the vote in the primary.
