Pennsylvania state hub.jpg

Welcome to Pennsylvania on Ballotpedia!

Located in the Northeastern and mid-Atlantic regions of the United States, the state of Pennsylvania is bordered by Maryland, Delaware, Ohio, West Virginia, New York, New Jersey, Lake Erie and Canada. Nicknamed both “the Keystone state” and “the Quaker state,” Pennsylvania was the second state admitted to the Union in 1787. While Harrisburg is the state’s capital, Philadelphia is the state’s most populated city. Currently, there are two members of the U.S. Senate, a total of eighteen members of the U.S. House of Representatives, 50 members of the Pennsylvania State Senate and 203 members of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. As of September 2013, Pennsylvania is one of 24 Republican state government trifectas.
