Schulte lost election to Texas House of Representatives District 108. He was unopposed in the March 2 Democratic primary and was defeated by incumbent Republican candidate Dan Branch in the November 2 general election.[2]

Schulte ran against Dan Branch, the Republican Party incumbent, and Libertarian Party challenger Jarrett Woods.
