Peltz served as a member/Chairperson of the Woodbury Elementary School Board from 1981 to 1984 and from 1987 to 1990. He then served as member/Chairperson of the Hazen Union High School Board from 1990 to 2003. Peltz joined the Vermont State House of Representatives in 2007 and has served in that position since. He represents the Lamoille-Washington-1 District.
Peltz was the owner of Vermont Vernacular Designs, Incorporated from 1991 to 2003. He has been the owner of Peter Peltz Construction, Incorporated since 1985.
Peltz earned his BFA from Tufts University in 1971.
