He was a 2012 Independent candidate for District 16 of the Alaska House of Representatives.

Elections for the Municipal Assembly of Anchorage, Alaska were held on April 1, 2014. Tim Steele defeated Phil Isley in the contest for District 3, Seat E.[1][2]

Isley ran in the 2012 election for Alaska House of Representatives District 16. He ran as a non-affiliated candidate and was challenged by Harriet Drummond (D), Jimmy Crawford (R), and Tracy Shaffer (R, Write-in) in the general election which took place on November 6, 2012.[3][4] Isley was defeated in the general election.[5]
