Altschuler is running in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing New York's 1st District. He sought the nomination on the Republican Conservative, and Independence Party tickets and was unopposed in those primaries.[1]

With incumbent Tim Bishop running unopposed in the Democratic primary, a rematch of 2010 is anticipated, when Bishop beat Altschuler by a very narrow margin. Altschuler is seen as posing a serious threat to Bishop in 2012.[2]

On November 2, 2010, Altschuler lost to incumbent Tim Bishop.[3]
