Randy Dorn is the current Washington Superintendent of Public Instruction. He was first elected to the position on November 4, 2008, and subsequently re-elected in 2012.[1]


Dorn, a lifelong resident of Washington state, taught at the elementary and middle school levels and was an elementary and high school principal. He served in the Washington House of Representatives for seven years. In 1999, he became executive director of Public School Employees of Washington.[2]

Dorn won re-election in 2012. He faced John Patterson Blair, James Bauckman, Ronald Higgins and Don Hansler in the blanket primary on August 7.[3] Dorn was unopposed in the general election.[4] The general election took place on November 6, 2012.
