Swartzmiller is running for re-election in the 2012 election for West Virginia House of Delegates, District 1. Swartzmiller is opposed by incumbent Ronnie D. Jones and Marilyn S. Boyd in the May 8 primary election. The general election takes place on November 6, 2012.[1]

Swartzmiller was re-elected to District 1. He was one of three candidates running for the two open positions in District 1 on the ballot in the November 2, 2010 general election. His opponents in the general election were Democrat Ronnie D. Jones and Independent Amanda Mesler. [2][3][4]

In 2008 Swartzmiller was re-elected to the West Virginia House District 1. Swartzmiller (D) finished with 8,763 votes and was followed by Patrick McGeehan (R) with 8,443 votes and Benton Manypenny (D) with 4,686 votes.[5] Swartzmiller raised $51,243 for his campaign fund.[6]
