Increase in property taxes
The school district administrator and board members claim that the $23.5 million dollar referendum will be "tax neutral" by filling a void of expiring debt during the 2009 school year. The average tax levy is approximately $11-18 per thousand dollars of fair market valuation. Residents in the city of Rhinelander pay an average of $17.83 per thousand dollars of valuation.[3]
Support
Support campaign group for the Rhinelander referendum was vote yes rhinelander.[4]
Opposition
Opposition to the referendum comes from taxpayers who claim that taxes are already too high and that there is too much focus on growing athletics when there is a significant decline in enrollment.
