Richard Burns served as a Representative in the Maine House of Representatives from 2004 to 2008.

Burns is a self-employed Carpenter, in addition to owning an antiques shop. He served in the United States Army from 1975 to 1978.[1]

Burns ran in the 2012 election for Maine State Senate District 2. He ran as an Independent candidate and was defeated by incumbent Ronald Collins (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[3]

Burns was defeated by Republican candidate Ronald Collins in the November 2 general election. Republican incumbent Richard Nass could not run for re-election due to term limits.[4]
