Richard N. Gottfried (b. May 16, 1947) is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly, representing District 75. He was first elected to the chamber in 1970.

Gottfried's other political experience includes being a State Committee member for the New York State Democratic Committee, a deputy majority leader and a chair of the codes committee for the New York State Assembly, and a district leader of the New York County Democratic Executive Committee.

Gottfried ran unopposed in the September 14 Democratic primary. He defeated Michael Chan (R) in the general election on November 2.[4] In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, he ran on the Working Familes ticket.
