Richard Laird (b. July 4, 1939) is an Independent member of the Alabama House of Representatives, representing the 37th district, Chambers, Clay, and Randolph counties. He was first elected in 1978.

Laird is the President/Owner of Ranco Incorporated Real Estate and Development, and has also owned Laird's 5 and 10. He served on the Roanoke City Council from 1972-1976.

Laird is a member of the Alabama and Roakone County Cattlemen's Association and Farm Bureau, Alabama Farmers Federation, Handley Avenue Church of God, Randolph County Camp of Gideons International, Randolph County Development Association, Roanoke Rotary Club, Randolph County Boy Scouts of America, and the Randolph County Cattleman's Association and Farm Bureau.[1]

Laird changed his party affiliation from Democratic to Independent following the 2012 election.

Laird won re-election to the 37th District Seat in 2010. He defeated Rodney Walker in the primary. He then defeated Bob Fincher in the November 2 general election.[2][3]
