Richard Pan is a Democratic member of the California State Assembly, representing District 9. He was first elected to the chamber in 2010.


Pan earned his B.S. from Johns Hopkins University, his M.A. in Public Health from Harvard University, and his his MD from the University of Pittsburgh. His professional experience includes working as a physician for the University of California Davis Children's Hospital and as an associate professor of pediatrics at the University of California Davis.

Pan won re-election in the 2012 election for California State Assembly District 9. Due to redistricting following the 2010 census, he was displaced from District 5. He advanced past the June 5, 2012 blanket primary, defeating Tom Santos (D), Edward Nemeth (R), Sophia Gonzales Scherman (R), and C.T. Weber (Peace and Freedom). Pan defeated Antonio Amador (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1][2]
