Richard Spanbauer (b. March 5, 1946) is a former Republican member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 53rd District from 2009 to 2013. He ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for the district in 2004 and 2006.

Spanbauer has worked as a manufacturer and realtor, and served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve.

He is a member of the Butte Des Morts Conservation Club, West Side Association, and Winnebago Lakes Council.[1]

Spanbauer's answers to the Wisconsin State Legislative Election 2008 Political Courage Test are available. The test provides voters with how a candidate would vote on the issues if elected. When asked his top priorities he replied:[2]

  • "1. Communication between Madison and the municipalities thru myself.
  • 2. Confidence in Govt., working for the people!
  • 3. Support between myself and the people!
  • 4. There are many priorities, but in 1st term these 1st three are essential!"

Spanbauer was re-elected to Wisconsin State Assembly District 53. He was unopposed in the September 14, 2010 primary election and is unopposed in the general election on November 2, 2010.[3]
