Richard Waisanen (b. August 5, 1945) was a Democratic candidate for District 33 of the Alaska House of Representatives. The primary election was on August 24, 2010 and the general election was on November 2.

Waisanen was a candidate for the Alaska House of Representatives in 2008.

Waisanen earned his BS in Elementary Education from the University of Minnesota, Duluth in 1967. He went on to receive his MS in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Wisconsin, Superior in 1974.

Waisanen and his wife, Sharon, have two children.

Waisanen was unopposed in the August 24 primary. He was defeated by incumbent Republican Kurt Olson in the November 2 general election.
