A Riga Township Road Levy Renewal measure was on the August 7, 2012 ballot in the township of Riga, which is in Lenawee County.

This measure was approved

  • YES 266 (72.28%)Approveda
  • NO 102 (27.72%)[1]

This measure sought to renew the current road levy which is set at a rate of $2 per $1,000 of assessed value for a further two years in order to continue to pay for road and bridge repair and improvement costs in the township.[2]

The question on the ballot:

Shall the expired previous voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec. 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Riga Township, of 2.0 mills ($2.00 per $1,000 of taxable value) be renewed and levied for two years, 2012 through 2013 inclusive, for repairing and improving local roads and bridges, raising an estimated $132,068 in the first year the millage is levied?[3]
