Swearingen won election in the 2012 election for Wisconsin State Assembly District 34. He defeated Alex Young in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012.[1] Swearingen defeated Democratic primary winner Merlin Van Buren in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
