Burr ran in the 2010 election for Massachusetts State Senate Norfolk, Bristol, and Plymouth District. Burr was defeated by Democratic incumbent Brian Joyce in the general election on November 2, 2010. Burr defeated Richard Livingston primary election on September 14, 2010.[2][3]
