Robert J. Duffy (born August 21, 1954) is the 76th and current Lieutenant Governor of New York. A Democrat, he was elected on a ticket with Andrew Cuomo in 2010.[1]

An April 2013 list of the 100 most powerful players in Albany by the newspaper City and State ranked Duffy as number 100.[2]

Biography

Duffy was an officer with the Rochester Police Department from 1976 to 2005. He served as deputy chief of police from 1992 to 1998 and as chief of police from 1998 to 2005. In 2005 he entered politics when he was elected as the mayor of Rochester.[3]
