Robert Shapiro was a 2014 independent ("Stop Boss Politics") candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of New Jersey.[1]

Shapiro was previously a 2013 Republican candidate for District 6 of the New Jersey State Senate.[2]


Shapiro holds a Ph.D. in American History from Harvard University. He also received a J.D. from Stanford University. Shapiro has worked as a district attorney in Kings County, New York and is a practicing attorney.

Shapiro's campaign website explained his reason for running for New Jersey Senate:[3]

  • "Robert Shapiro’s candidacy is based upon the belief that even though the highest priority should be given to getting the American economy back on track, the rights and benefits of senior citizens, veterans, public servants, and students should not be jeopardized."
