Robert Sweeney (b. May 29, 1949) is a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly. He has represented District 11 since 1989.

Sweeney's professional experience is as a certified municipal clerk for the Village of Lindenhurst.

Sweeney earned a BA from Adelphi University and a MPA from Charles William Post Campus, Long Island University.[1]

Sweeney ran unopposed in the September 14 Democratic primary. He defeated Brett Robinson (R) in the general election on November 2.[2] In addition to running on the Democratic ticket, he was also listed as a candidate of the Independence Party of New York State, and Working Families Party.
