Rod Monroe (b. August 20, 1942) is a Democratic member of the Oregon State Senate, representing District 24. He was first elected to the chamber in 2006.

Monroe served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1977–1981. He previously served District 7 in the Oregon State Senate from 1981–1989. He also served as a Board Member for the David Douglas School Board.

Biography

Monroe attended Warner Pacific College. He earned his B.S. from Portland State University in 1965, and his MA from Portland State University in 1969. His professional experience includes being a History and Government Teacher for Tigard High School.[1]

Monroe won re-election to the Oregon State Senate against Rob Wheeler (R).[2] Monroe defeated Ron McCarty and Dave Mowry in the Democratic primary on may 18, 2010.[3] The general election took place on November 2, 2010.

On November 7, 2006, Monroe was re-elected to District 24 in the Oregon State Senate, defeating T.J. Reilly (R) and Ron McCarty (N).[4] Monroe raised $137,799 for his campaign, while Reilly raised $335,063 and McCarty did not raise any money.[5]
