Solum ran for re-election to one of two seats in District 5 of the South Dakota House of Representatives. Also running were Melissa Magstadt (R) and Jeff Dunn (D).[2] J. Maurice Redmond (D) withdrew from the race, and John Wiles (R) was eliminated in the primary election. Melissa Magstadt (R) and Roger Solum (R) won election in the November 2 general election.[3]
