DeSantis ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Florida's 6th District. DeSantis won the nomination on the Republican ticket.[4] Candidates wishing to run must file by the signature filing deadline of June 8, 2012. The primary elections were held on August 14, 2012. DeSantis won the nomination in the Republican primary on August 14, 2012.[1] He won the election on November 6, 2012.[5]
